HAMPSHIRE V YORKSHIRE - DAY 4

An early wicket for Yorkshire when Gillespie continued his good form of late by bowling nightwatchman Bruce for 4. Yorkshire were then held up by a 94 run partnership by Adams and Crawley; Hoggard, Gillespie, Rashid, Bresnan, Gough, McGrath and Rudolph all tried without success to break the partnership. Gough threw the ball to Younus Khan for the last over before lunch and his great game continued when he had Crawley caught by Rudolph for 50. At lunch Hampshire were 324 runs behind with 7 wickets remaining.

Ex Yorkshireman Michael Lumb joined opener Adams and they took the score to 198 (82 partnership) before Younus struck again dismissing Adams for a well made 90 (188 balls, 14 fours). Caught McGrath, the same pair then teamed up to remove Benham for 5. Lumb continued to fustrate his former team mates until Younus did the trick again with the help of a Rudolph catch as Lumb went for 57. Adil Rashid then got the wicket of Ervine but Pothas and Warne held up Yorkshire. Warne was in agressive form and made 33 from 34 balls in a 50 run partnership. The new ball was taken and Gillespie took the wicket of his fellow Austrailian with the aid of Rudolph's fourth catch of the innings. Yorkshire needed two wickets but could not break through, Pothas held on to be 76 not out and Clark was 3 not out as play ended in a draw with Hampshire on 366 for 8.
