YORKSHIRE V WORCESTERSHIRE - DAY 1
Yorkshire won the toss and batted. They made slow but solid progress as White and Sayers moved the score to 72-0 at lunch, Sayers was missed early but the openers laid a nice platform for Yorkshire. Worcestershire bowlers Sillence and Nel have bowled tightly for the visitors. Yorkshire's openers started positively after lunch (5 an over in the first five overs) and both completed well made half centuries. The pair continued to play some fine shots, White took toll on anything loose from Batty. He moved to within site of his century when caught behind by Davies off Sillence for 97 (169 balls, 17 fours), first wicket down at 177. McGrath joined Sayers, who continued to accumulate, although he had increased his strike rate to 43 per 100 balls. When the rain came to end play for the day Sayers stood 86 not out (another fine display of concentration) and McGrath 7 not out. Yorkshire 202 for 1.
